BOHOL :: PHILIPPINES
Just a short ferry ride away from Cebu City, is the island of Bohol. There are also daily flights in and out of the island. People know Bohol for the Chocolate Hills, the cute little tarsier monkeys and the dolphin watching. But here are some more recommendations for your time.

Doljo Beach
Don’t miss Doljo Beach on Panglao Island. You may have to sneak onto one of the resort beaches (like Bellevue Resort) and bypass the beach security guards but the sandbar and sunsets on this side are phenomenal. If you do get kicked off their beach, you can always sing karaoke with the locals next door.

Shaka Cafe
Shaka Café (which started in Siargao) makes another appearance in Bohol, near White Beach. If you want to take a break from the fried meat and rice for breakfast, this is the best place for a flat white and a fresh fruit bowl worthy of Instagram likes.

Bilar Manmade Forest
Take a moto and drive through Bilar Manmade forest on the way to see the cute little tarsier monkeys and don’t miss all of the beautiful lookout points.

Tarsier Sanctuary
A tarsier stands at just 4 inches tall and has eyeballs the size of its brain. But don’t be fooled by the tourist pictures, these little guys should not be touched. Even the slightest touch or the flash from a camera lens can cause panic and anxiety.

Bohol Bee Farm
Bohol Bee Farm is a great little eco resort with a name that describes its main feature, along with farm fresh food and a great view of the ocean. It is a quick drive from the main beach and offers a lot of farm to table food including their own ice cream, flower salad and brick oven pizza.

Loboc River
Somewhere on the way from Panglao to the Bilar manmade forest, you will pass the area of Villaflor and the Loboc River. It’s easy to miss but there is a beautiful aqua green river cascading through this area. Most people take boats along the river but if you get a chance, try to find the Fox and the Firefly Cottages. They have a treehouse-like restaurant with a view overlooking the river. Don’t miss the giant rope swing…it may have been raining cats and dogs but the aqua water was very inviting.
